How do I know if I need

The special education process can feel overwhelming, and unfortunately it can leave some families feeling as though they are stuck with no clear path forward. At Mountain Pass Consulting we want you to know that you don’t have to go on this journey alone, we are here to guide you.

What does educational consulting and advocacy look like at Mountain Pass Consulting? 

  • Review documentation including assessment reports, progress reports, IEPs, 504s, meeting minutes, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), discipline referrals or reports, and any other documentation you feel would help us get to know your child and their educational journey thus far.


  • Conduct interviews with the family, service providers and the school.


  • Perform school observations.


  • Plan and prepare for meetings.


  • Conduct post-meeting recap and review.


  • Attend meetings with the school
  • IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan)
  • IEP
  • 504
  • Collaborate with the school and other service providers.


  • Attend mediation hearings.


  • Perform Independent Education Evaluations (IEE) in the form of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs).


  • Provide consultation and training to caregivers in areas of need for the family, such as challenging behaviors in the home or community, toileting, and the implementation of AAC in the home or community, in collaboration with a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP).


  • Collaborate with home-based or outside providers to foster a multidisciplinary strengths-based approach.


  • Meet with the family in areas of need including the home or in the community.
